Who's On First?

In Kenny Chesney's song 'Don't Blink' he sings about a man he saw on TV who was being interviewed on his 100th birthday. When asked if he had any wisdom to pass on, the birthday boy said, "You'd best start puttin' first things first. Life goes faster than you think. So don't blink."In Paul's letter to the Colossians in chapter 3, he talked about who was, and should always be first:"Christ is also the head of the church, which is His body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So He is first in everything."Increasing the success of our plans to (BE)TTER involves establishing proper priorities with priority #1 being to keep the Supreme Being in first place. Setting and maintaining established standards reduces the chances of caving in under the weight of pressurized situations. Knowing ahead of time which of your priorities are non-negotiable enables you to give quick responses when a decision is needed. If we don't stick to our guns, we run the risk of living only a so-so life. Allowing our own selfishness, inordinate desires to please other people or the relentless pursuit of possessions can lure us away from our appointment with Better Life.People who lower their standards depending on the given situation or simply have no standards at all are not well-respected. On the other hand, it's the people who set and maintain high standards who quite often emerge as the cream of the crop and the type of person others aspire to be like.Better Life awaits those whose days begin and end with God in the top spot.Who's on first for you?
